Procrastinating with Aprilynne Pike!

I never thought I’d have the opportunity to say this about a debut author Deb friend, but ahem..Please welcome #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Aprilynne Pike to the blog!

Her book, WINGS, takes a twist on fairy lore that will blow you away.

 Check it:

About Wings

Aprilynne Pike's WINGS is the first of four books about an ordinary girl named Laurel who discovers she is a faerie sent among humans to guard the gateway to Avalon. When Laurel is thrust into the midst of a centuries-old battle between faeries and trolls, she's torn between a human and a faerie love, as well as her loyalties to both worlds.

About Aprilynne Pike

Aprilynne Pike has been spinning faerie stories since she was a child with a hyper-active imagination. At the age of twenty she received her BA in Creative Writing from Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho. When not writing, Aprilynne can usually be found at the gym; she also enjoys singing, acting, reading, and working with pregnant moms as a childbirth educator and doula. Aprilynne currently lives with her husband and three kids in Utah, and dreams of warmer climates.

• Do you consider yourself a procrastinator in your writing or daily life?
I am the WORST procrastinator!! I seem to work well under pressure and the only way to get that pressure is to put things off till the last minute! Right? . . . Right??

• What point in the writing process are you most likely to avoid or drag your feet on?

The middle. It is hard to connect you brilliant beginning with your brilliant ending! (Ha!) But I won't let myself write the ending until the middle is taken care of.

• Favorite time waster/avoidance mechanism?

The Debs at and Twitter. I can also justify reading new books instead of writing because it research!!! I have to keep up on the market!

• What are your go-to time wasting websites?

The Blue Boards, Absolute Write, the Debs (again!;)), and Kristin Nelson's blog.

• Do you self-google?

I really don't very much. I trust my Google Alerts . . . which is basically the same thing minus the work.;)

• At what point does the procrastinating stop? Is it deadline pressure? Boredom?

Definitely deadline pressure!! Especially if someone else knows about the deadline. (Personal deadlines I set for myself and then don't tell anyone about tend to go whooshing by, uncompleted.)

• How do you “buckle down” and get to work? What do you need in order to be productive (tea, Coke, chocolate, live go-go dancers…)?

If I really have a hard time buckling down, I go see my Mommy.;) No really, I go to my mom's house and she feeds me and helps watch my kids while I just make myself work!

• Do you reward yourself when you finish a project or step in the process? How?

Often with Ben and Jerry's, but for me, completing the task is often reward enough in and of itself.

Lastly, who would win in a fight:

Zombies or werewolves?

Jack Frost or Jack Sprat?

Jack Frost. Anyone who can make it snow is a vicious villain in my opinion!

The Stay-Puff Marshmallow Man (from Ghostbusters) or The Michelin Tire Man?

What has the tire man ever done? Go Marshmallow Man!!

Thanks Erin!!
Thank YOU, Aprilynne!
